MMVCE by Mafalda Vasconcelos
With a background in fashion design, artist Mafalda Vasconcelos turned to art as a way of exploring the different cultural influences in her life. Born in South Africa and growing up in Mozambique, there is an evidence of African influence through Mafalda’s visual work. The artist is of mixed ethnicity, from interracial parent's which has given her a different perspective of the issue. Through travel and exploring these different cultures, the artist developed a unique artistic style which has a contemporary theme and aesthetic. Her work is about contrast and opposition, black and white, vibrant colours and how these two create an even more beautiful outcome. Now residing in Melbourne, Mafalda continues to explore the female figure, always honouring the women who raised her.
Clients include: Revolve Clothing, ASAP Mob, Sony Music Australia, Song of Style, and others...
Mafalda likes to explore different mediums in art but her theme is always portraits of women. Her favourite mediums are digital art, oil, acrylic and collage. She believes that only by experimenting we can truly develop a style and express ourselves. Follow her journey on Instagram
